Glo-toob is a product that is rapidly catching on as an acessory for divers. They are small tubes fitted with LEDs and cleverly engineered to be very resistant to adverse conditions.
According to the LED Museum, "Virtually indestructible. Waterproof and submersible to no less than 300 feet. Battery isn't that expensive or hard to find, and lasts 30 hours. Radiates all around, so you don't have to "aim" it. Drives its LEDs gently, so they'll last a very long time."
According to the manufacturer of Glo-toob, this product is the "most innovative, most exciting electronic lightstick available on the market today."
It is defintely tough and very well made. My only concern since the first glo-toob I have used has been the seal. Now, half a dozen units later including the newer FX models, my concerns are still there. Several of the glo-toobs including the FXs flooded in deep dive. In order to eliminate this problem, the user has to be very careful while sealing the unit after a battery replacement. The screw cap has to be well tighten as well as it needs to be lubed in order to keep these units functioning properly. One thing has to be said though, even after some of the units were flooded, we were still able to salvage them after properly drying and cleaning the inside.
Also, the brightness of some of the colors could be a bit higher. Our group has all the colors including red, blue, green and amber. The green and blue being the brightest. I have 2 glo-toobs attached to the front right D-Ring on my Seaquest Balance. I rarely remember I have those. It has made identification easy between all of us since we have color-coded our group members.
We do carry all colors of the FX model GLo-toobs. If you are interested in purchasing one please contact us HERE
